Seizures/Night Tremors

Seizures are caused by the abnormal firing of neurons in the brain. If your dog has seizures, whether mild or severe, you should visit your veterinarian to determine the cause.

If you want to supplement your dog’s treatment with a natural remedy, CBD oil should be your first option. CBD, is a non-psychotropic component of the Cannabis sativa plant, which has been shown to have wonderful anticonvulsant properties.

Cats Can Take CBD Too!

Read our page about CBD and cats. Since they weigh much less than dogs, it’s important to read about dosing.

Anxiety Issues

  • Thunderstorms/Fireworks
  • Car rides/Travel
  • Pacing/Panting/Jumping
  • Nervous habits like nail biting, fur biting

CBD oil works by interacting with the body’s naturally occurring endocannabinoid system to soothe and calm anxiety naturally.

What is CBD for Pets?

CBD for dogs works in a very similar way as it does for humans, by promoting feelings of calm and relaxation, and relief from various ailments that are prohibiting your dog/cat’s quality of life.

CBD’s ability to interact with your dog’s internal system helps to promote their body’s own production of vital chemicals called cannabinoids. This helps support joint health and connective tissue, as well as supporting cognitive function and much more.

Because your dogs are not just pets, they’re part of your family. We derive all our CBD for dogs products from high-quality organic hemp extracts. A naturally rich source of plant compounds, terpenes, and flavonoids, that support overall wellbeing, with USA hemp that is lab tested.

FAQs

How to use CBD Oil For Dogs or Cats

This all depends on your dog’s preferred method.  By adding oil drops to the mouth CBD can be absorbed directly into the bloodstream via the mucous membrane.

We sell drops and chews. We recommend the chews for pets under 25lbs. Check out our organic anxiety and pain-reducing chews!

We advise dropping the drops into the mouth, away from teeth, and avoid putting the glass dropper directly into your dog’s mouth for safety reasons, as the dropper may break.

If your dog is sensitive to the taste of hemp you can also add CBD oil drops to your dog’s food to disguise the taste, however, this may have a more delayed effect. Our drops have no smell or taste. It’s the main reason we started our own brand, after wasting money on CBD that our dogs would not go near, and realized they had coconut oil or MCT oil as the base-which can upset both human and pet stomachs.

Will it get my pet high?

Cannabis is a plant most people associate with marijuana, a popular recreational drug.

The main psychoactive ingredient in marijuana is THC or tetrahydrocannabinol.

THC is one of about 113 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, and is responsible for causing the strong euphoria associated with a cannabis “high.”

CBD, or cannabidiol, is another popular cannabinoid found in cannabis.

However, unlike THC, CBD is completely non-psychoactive, meaning it doesn’t produce any of the effects associated with being “high.”

How long does it take to work?

This is a tough question to answer. From our personal experience there a lot of factors with our 3 dogs who are all on our “Woof” drops. Our senior dog has cancer, hip issues, and pain so we give him CBD on an empty stomach. This seems to help him tremendously for about 4 hours.

At night, we give him a dropper full to help with pain and his night tremors it kicks in after 20 minutes.

For our high anxiety GSD (88lbs), we give her 2 droppers in her food at breakfast. And again if we know we are going to leave the house.

The photograph is what happens if we forget to give her “Woof” drops before we leave for work.

Our smaller dog, a Border Collie, has anxiety about being around people. We give him half a dropper full with or without food about 20 minutes before guests arrive.

Are there any side effects? Can my dog/cat overdose?

As there aren’t much scientific data on the side effects of CBD for dogs. The potential CBD side effects are often based on how CBD affects humans and the physical reactions by pets- such as lack of panic or pain panting, loss of twitching/tremors, increased appetite, loss or lack of destruction in the home or yard, less anxiety barking/growing, etc.

  • Dry mouth: For dogs, this could be seen as increased thirst.
  • Drowsiness: This side effect could be characterized as light drowsiness, which is more common with higher doses.
  • Lowered blood pressure: This may result in lightheadedness or dizziness.
  • Loose stools if the base of the product contains MCT.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST CBD PRODUCTS FOR DOGS?

Even though the compound CBD will be the same in all CBD products. Not all CBD products are created equally. The other components of CBD oil can greatly vary which can affect the quality, potency, and effects of the products.

So, just like choosing CBD for humans, choose your CBD products for dogs wisely.

What to look for:

  • Organic
  • 3rd party lab testing
  • GMP certification.
  • USA Grown Hemp ONLY
